Supporting the educational dreams of families who lost a hero in the line of duty
As I continue to gain experience working closely with patients, I strive to honor the memory of my father, remembering that he always tried his hardest to be the best part of a patient’s worst day. I have been very grateful for this scholarship in allowing me to pursue my goals while connecting with patients, all while honoring his legacy.
My desire to be a part of a fire department continues to grow stronger since I lost my father, Captain Matthew McKnight. To be a part of a fire department would allow me to follow in my father’s footsteps, continue my family’s tradition, as well as serve and protect the community that I love. I desire to be a part of a community of first responders that holds serving the public as a priority. This scholarship would allow me to achieve this goal while carrying on the legacy of my father.
Through pervious help from The Fallen Heroes I have become a nationally certified EMT, graduated from the Oxnard Fire Technology program with my AS in Fire Technology and now completed final year of my undergraduate degree.
Who can apply?
Any spouse or dependent whose parent was a law enforcement or fire service personnel who has died in the line of duty in the State of California since January 1, 2011. The dependent must be of natural birth, legally adopted, or step-child of a legally recognized partnership, under the age of 27.
