To honor Peace Officers and Firefighters who make the ultimate sacrifice during the performance of their duties and offer lasting emotional and financial support to the families left behind.
On March 21, 2009, four Oakland Police Officers - Sergeants Mark Dunakin, Ervin Romans, Daniel Sakai, and Officer John Hege - tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. Our founder immediately began planning a fundraiser to support the families and agencies affected by their deaths.
The response to our Celebrity Golf Tournament and Fundraiser was remarkable.
The event raised $40,000 for the families, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Inspired by this outpouring of unity, Police and Fire: The Fallen Heroes was founded on the guiding principle: "Serving Those Who Served" and officially became a nonprofit organization on July 1, 2009.
When a Peace Officer or Firefighter dies in the performance of his/her duties, we, as a community of supporters, will step forward and provide assistance in whatever way appropriate to the family and agency left behind.
Their sacrifice protects our communities. Our support protects their families.
Provides educational funds to children and spouses of our fallen heroes.
Offers financial support to surviving families and affected agencies in their time of need.
Your support helps us continue providing vital assistance to the families of California's fallen heroes. Every contribution makes a lasting impact.
