Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Foley, 60, was killed February 23rd when he was struck by a jail transport bus at Santa Rita Jail the previous day.

Foley was struck by the inmate bus at the transportation yard behind the jail at about 6 a.m. as he was walking across the parking lot. He died of traumatic brain injuries as a result of the accident.

Mike Foley’s brother is an officer with Emeryville Police Department. His dad was in the Oakland Police Department, and now his 18-year-old son says he wants to follow in his dads footsteps.

In his 38 year career, he worked 21 years in patrol, 4 years as a motorcycle officer, 3 years as a school resource officer, and 10 years on the SWAT team,” said Alameda County Sheriff Gregory Sheen.

Deputy Foley leaves behind his son, daughter, and wife Tammy.
