Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Antonio “Tony” Hinostroza III, 45, was killed on November 25th in a car accident while responding to assist other deputies with a pursuit in the city of Riverbank, near Modesto in Central California.

According to authorities, Deputy Hinostroza was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Riverbank and had crashed into a power pole while responding to assist other deputies with a pursuit of a suspected DUI. The Sheriff’s Department, along with the California Highway Patrol, Paramedics and Firefighters rushed to the scene of the crash and tried to save Deputy Hinostroza, but he died at the scene.

Eventually, the DUI suspect was apprehended.

Deputy Hinostroza was a Marine Corp veteran and had served with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years. During his career, he had served as a Patrol Deputy, a K9 Handler, a Gang Detective, a SWAT Team Member and a Field Training Officer. He was a Police Explorer for the Ceres Police Department.

He is survived by his adult son.
