Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputy Oscar Rocha, 57, died July 23rd from complications of COVID-19 after 3 weeks in intensive care.

Deputy Rocha had worked most of his career in either the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland or the Santa Rita Jail.

The ALCO Sheriff’s Department has seen at least 40 deputies test positive and more than 100 inmates at Santa Rita Jail.

Deputy Rocha was a 25 year veteran of the department who lived in Danville. He leaves behind his wife, Maureen, who had also contracted the virus, but has recovered.
