End of Watch: 2/18/2011

While Firefighters were performing their sworn duties on February 17, 2011, a partial ceiling collapse occurred, causing injury to four Los Angeles Firefighters and two Los Angeles County Firefighters. One of the injured Los Angeles Firefighters was Glenn Allen, who later succumbed to his injuries at 1215 hrs on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Glenn Allen had been with the Los Angeles Fire Department for 38 years and had been contemplating retirement within 2 years. Allen is survived by his wife, Melanie and his daughter, Rebecca McPhee. Allen’s daughter gave birth to his first grandchild the day after he died. The 6-pound, 7-ounce boy was said to be healthy.
