Orange County Fire Engineer, Greg Hennessey, 49, died January 20th after suffering a heart attack at a station in Rancho Santa Margarita.

He was discovered in full cardiac arrest at Orange County Fire Authority Station 45 about 9:40 a.m. by his colleagues. They immediately began lifesaving operations and transported him to Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later.

Hennessey worked as a mentor for aspiring firefighters for the last 8 years, Capt. Steve Concialdi said, and also taught in the apparatus engineer academy. “That was a passion of his,” he said. “He was committed to teaching new firefighters.”

Hennessey was a 24-year veteran of the department, having previously worked as a volunteer Firefighter in New York. He is survived by his wife Deanna and two sons, Ryan, 22 and Brandon,19.
