Quincy Volunteer Fire Captain William (Bill) Floyd Hopman, 53, died at home January 11, 2011 after battling a house fire the previous night. After the fire had been extinguished, Captain Hopman returned to the fire station and then went home. He passed away in the early morning hours the following day. Hopman loved aviation and had been a pilot since the age of 17. Captain Hopman was a 20-year veteran of the fire service. He was married for 26 years and is survived by his wife and one child.
