San Diego Police Officer David Sisto, 39, died February 2nd after experiencing a medical emergency while responding to a call.
Sisto was with a trainee when he experienced shortness of breath and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police chief.
Sisto joined the Marine Corps out of high school and served 8 years, including tours of Iraq as a military police officer. He was born in San Diego but grew up in Encinitas, graduating from La Costa Canyon High School, where he played football, in 1999. He was a member of the San Diego Police Department for more than a decade.
He leaves behind a wife and 2 sons, ages 5 and 3.
