Police and Fire: The Fallen Heroes is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded on July 1, 2009, following the tragic deaths of four Oakland Police Officers on March 21, 2009 (Sergeants Mark Dunakin, Ervin Romans, Daniel Sakai, and Officer John Hege).

To honor Peace Officers and Firefighters who make the ultimate sacrifice during the performance of their duties and offer lasting emotional and financial support to the families left behind.

We support families of California peace officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty since January 1, 2011, including:

- Sheriff's deputies
- Highway Patrol officers
- Firefighters
- Fire service personnel

## Scholarship Application Details

**Deadline:** April 1st annually

**Eligibility:**
- Child or spouse of a California peace officer or firefighter who died in the line of duty since January 1, 2011
- Accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school
- Maintain minimum 2.5 GPA
- Demonstrate financial need
- Provide proof of relationship to fallen hero
- Complete application and submit required documents

**Award Amount:** Varies based on available funds and number of qualified applicants
