Pomona Police Officer Greggory Casillas, 30, was shot and killed March 9th while trying to apprehend a suspect who barricaded himself in an apartment.
Police responded to South Palomares Street to a call about a reckless driver. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed and the driver ran into an apartment complex barricading himself into a room. He then shot through a door, hitting Casillas in the face and wounding another officer. The shooter was arrested after a 15 hour stand-off.
Casillas died at the hospital.
Officer Casillas had been with the department since 2014 and leaves behind a wife and 2 small children.
