San Jose police officer, Michael Johnson, 38, was shot and killed March 24th while responding to reports of a suicidal man. Police were called to a home on the 2600 block of Senter Road shortly before 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire.

Johnson was fatally shot during the confrontation. Evacuations took place around the killer’s apartment on Senter Road.

The killer, Scott Dunham, was found dead at 3:20 a.m. the next morning on his balcony with at least one gunshot wound. It was unclear if he killed himself or died when officers returned fire.

Johnson was a 14-year veteran of the department.
