Chula Vista Fire Department Investigator, Sam Escalante, 43, passed away June 21st from a heart attack.

He was known as the Fire Department’s ‘go-to’ for highly technical life safety questions and was a manager within the Fire Prevention Division. Escalante had been working with the CVFD since February 2006 as the city’s first Fire Prevention Engineer. Prior to joining the department, he was a Fire Protection Engineer in the U.S. Navy.

Sam had been with Chula Vista Fire for 8 years and is survived by his wife and three small children.
