San Diego Police Officer Jeremy Henwood, 36, was shot and fatally wounded while he was stopped in his patrol car at a traffic light on August 6, 2011. A vehicle pulled up along the driver’s side of Henwood’s patrol car and the passenger opened fire. Several bystanders rushed to the aid of the officer and used his radio to alert the police dispatcher. Officer Henwood was transported to Scipps Mercy Hospital where he later died.
Officer Henwood was a 4-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department and had previously served 3 overseas tours as a United States Marine.
