Long Beach Police Department K9, Credo, 4 years old, was shot and killed June 28th while deployed at a barricade situation involving a man wanted in connection with shooting several other people.
Credo was assisting the agency’s SWAT team in the 2800 block of East 15th Street when the subject came out of the apartment and aggressively charged at officers. Credo was deployed to stop the man, at which point he pulled out a knife. Officers on scene fire at the subject, fatally wounding him and Credo.
Credo was transported to a nearby veterinary clinic where he died a short time later.
K9 Credo, a Belgian Malinois, served alongside his handler, LBPD Officer Mike Parcells, working Patrol and Narcotics. He was involved in the apprehension of over 30 suspects during his two year career.
