MONEY IS COMING to the Danville area — Eddie Money, that is. The rock guitarist, singer and songwriter is one of the celebrities participating in the Fallen Heroes Celebrity Golf Tournament on June 13 at Diablo Country Club.

Proceeds from the event will benefit families of California law enforcement officers and fire service personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.

Tom Gallinatti, a Walnut Creek resident, is chairman and CEO of the nonprofit Police and Fire: The Fallen Heroes Corporation. He retired as a battalion chief in the Oakland Fire Department a year ago.

Fallen Heroes was formed in 2009 following the shooting deaths of four Oakland police officers, whose lives were among those honored at the first Fallen Heroes Celebrity Golf Tournament, held last year.

“Diablo Country Club reached out to me when the four officers were killed,” Tom said, “and we decided to have the celebrity golf tournament. We found the need was there to provide support for firefighters and police families.” The first event earned $40,000 for the families of officers that were slain in 2009.

The golf tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. June 13 with a continental breakfast. Registration is at 9, and a shotgun start/shamble format begins at 11. A hosted 19th-hole celebration follows at 5 p.m., with the awards dinner, featuring music, live auction and the tribute, beginning at 7.
